‘Little Stories Little Prints’ exhibition
Thurs, 7th July – Wed, 31st August 2016
Donegal County Museum, Letterkenny
The ‘Little Stories Little Prints’ exhibition opens on Thursday 7 July at 8pm in Donegal County Museum. This exhibition forms part of the 2016 Earagail Arts Festival. The exhibition runs to the end of August 2016.
Fifty Printmakers from eight printmaking studios around Ireland were invited by The Leinster Printmaking Studio to create ‘little prints’ on ‘little known events or incidents’ during or around the time of the 1916 Rising. This 1916 commemorative visual arts project through printmaking was organised and coordinated by studio member Pamela de Brí, assisted by Studio Manager Margaret Becker.
Information events were organised to help artists’ research incidents and aspects of life at the time. The brief was to create a limited edition of little prints in response to the research and to present them for exhibition with the stories. This exhibition was supported by County Kildare Library and Arts Services, with supplementary support from Dublin City Libraries. The prints, along with the stories, incidents or events that inspired them can be viewed on the website www.littlestorieslittleprints.com.
All are welcome to the opening but please RSVP to Donegal County Museum, High Road, Letterkenny, Co Donegal.
