Special Guest Announced for Cathedral Quarter Literary Festival
The Cathedral Quarter Literary Festival kicks off this weekend, with Senator David Norris opening the event on Friday 7th October.
Music, drama, food and family fun are all on the agenda for the inaugural festival in the town centre. All events are free to attend, with donations going towards the Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter project.
The programme begins with a pre-drinks meet and greet in the Regional Cultural Centre on Friday at 8pm, followed by the official opening of the Cathedral Quarter Literary Festival at 8.30pm.
Saturday sees Whole Green Foods on the Church Lane hosting a family event at 11am, followed by a literary event for all ages in the Conwal Parish Centre at 2pm.
The evening’s entertainment comes from local playwright Paul McCollum, with a contemporary play performed in Universal Books at 5pm. The festival closes with an open mic literary event with traditional Irish music in Berry Layne from 8pm, chaired by poet and writer Denise Blake.
Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter committee member Amanda Clarke shared her excitement for the upcoming event.
“We’re delighted that Senator David Norris is coming to Letterkenny to launch the inaugural Cathedral Quarter Literary Festival. The committee has worked very hard to put this event together and we’re very excited to share it with the public.”
“The Cathedral Quarter is steeped in history and we want to showcase the very best that the area has to offer. We hope to see a great turnout and if anyone would like to help out or get involved, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any member of the committee,” she said.
