The Christmas single, now available on iTunes, ‘Dear Santa’ (English language version) and ‘Santa Mo Stóirín’ (Irish language version), written by Brí Carr as part of new Book and Cd project this Christmas undertaken by The Wild Atlantic Wains from Blue Ribbon Arts, as a result of their selection to appear on the ‘ToyShow UnWrapped’ last weekend on RTE, as well as a pre-recorded clip on the Toy Show itself.

A YouTube video to coincide with the launch is also available, and features all the children who were lucky enough to meet Santa to shoot the footage! Check out ‘Wild Atlantic Wains, Dear Santa’ or Wild Atlantic Wains ‘Santa Mo stóirín’.

The book and song are all about the letter a child writes to Santa, expressing his wish to be an elf with the main man for just one trip along the Wild Atlantic Way in Santa’s magic sleigh. The children singing on both tracks are aged between 5 and 16, and are all from primary schools across Co. Donegal.  The book/song was penned by Bri Carr, the videos recorded and mixed by Brighdin, Anne Barron, and Marty Curran on PMC Medias.

The solo singers on the English version are Ethan Barron (6), Drumoghill NS, Caela Carr, (6) Scoil Mhuire, Ramelton, Padraig Gallagher and Cliodhna Patton, Woodlands; Daithi Freeburn and Ella McLaughlin, Lurgybrack and finally, Teigan Robb, Illistrin. The main soloist on the Irish version, which is dominating Irish radio stations all over Ireland, including R na G, Highland (Ruaille Buaille) and Raidio Na Life, is Laura Foody, Loreto Convent, Letterkenny. The musicians are Martin McGinley (fiddle), Trudy Ni Dhomhnaill (flute, tinwhistle, bodhran), Megan Ramsay (Ukelele), Brighdin Carr, (Keys), Jim Corbett (Piano).

The tracks were recorded in Full Tilt, Letterkenny by Tommy Conway, and sent to Jim Corbett and Kevin Corrigan of C&C Productions, Bundoran, who worked on fine-tuning, mastering and mixing the tracks, which are available on iTunes and as part of a  book of the same title, Santa Mo Stoirin, Dear Santa (available in Easons, Courtyard and Letterkenny S.C., as well as on sale in Cooney’s Home and Garden, Letterkenny.) The beautiful children’s book is beautifully illustrated by Nicolette Culloo, Letterkenny.

With the encouragement of Minister Joe McHugh, Donegal WAW and County Council Committees, and especially Sean O Coistealbha and the team at Muintearas, Galway, this definitely will be a Christmas to remember for all the children.

Please decide which is YOUR favourite version (Irish or English) and request on radio, or download on iTunes, the children are guessing which one will go further, and opinions are split!
